Christadelphian beliefs

How it all started

We have to go all the way back to the beginning of our era. In Israel there was a preacher active who indicated that he was the sent of God and came to make known God as well as to show the way to draw near to God to come.

This Nazarene Essener came from the tribe of David and also indicated that after him not only the Hebrews had a chance to be delivered from their sins. Jeshua ben Josef, better known as Jesus Christ, gave himself to the torture pole to act as a ransom for all people.

Our story

There is a story to every realization. This is also the case with ours. After Jesus died, was buried, and then rose from the dead after the third day in the grave, his disciples were surprised to meet him again and find that he had truly risen. Yet it took some time before they were really completely convinced to tell around the world what their teacher had done and what he means for humanity.

They formed communities that spread all over the globe. Even though false doctrines began to spread very quickly, groups always persisted that adhered to the teachings of that great rabbi Jesus.

It took until the second half of the 19th century for an English doctor to neatly list all those beliefs and to emphasize them that we should adhere to that Biblical teaching, which was based on the earlier Hebrew scriptures.

Hard work and perseverance made faith in Jesus Christ and his apostles spread all over the world. Here in small Belgium too, we insist on holding on to that True Faith, which is completely based on what is in the Bible. Even though there are many denominations in the Christian faith that have previously adopted many dogmas, we hold on to what the Bible teaches us.

Based on the Bible, Christadelphians believe that:

  • The Bible is God’s only true message and reveals the true purpose of life.
  • The one true God really cares about the earth and its preservation.
  • God has made some promises that tell us about His plans to take over world government and establish one worldwide kingdom on earth, solving all human problems completely and * Jesus Christ is the Son of God and is the man appointed by God to be the future king of the world.
  • Soon Jesus will return visibly to earth to reign from Jerusalem over Jews, Arabs and all nations.
  • The Gospel is true – that Jesus lived, died and rose again to save us from sin and death and to give us a hope of life forever.
  • Repentance, belief and baptism by immersion are essential for salvation.
  • Resurrection of the body at the return of Jesus is the only way of escape from the curse of our mortality.

All Christadelphian beliefs are the same as those taught by Jesus Christ and his apostles.
