Une communauté de foi pour reprendre le flambeau

Avec la crainte de Jéhovah, nous voulons former ensemble une communauté sous la garde de Jésus-Christ. À cette fin, nous sommes guidés par la Parole délivrée par Dieu, qui a défié les âges. Les gens ont essayé de détruire cette Parole à plusieurs reprises, mais ont échoué. La propagation de cette Parole a également été stoppée à plusieurs reprises, mais cela n’a pas non plus fonctionné.

Avec notre ecclesia, nous reprenons désormais également le flambeau qui a déjà été porté par tant de personnes devant nous. C’est un privilège de porter cette torche de lumière éternelle. Nous pouvons désormais faire briller cette lumière dans notre environnement.

Le « corps unique » dont Christ est la tête ne doit pas être sans nom. Pendant des siècles, il a été appelé « chrétien », mais a montré sans vergogne des signes indignes de Jésus-Christ. Ce chrétien n’est plus distinctif et a été moqué pendant des siècles par des guerres entre nations dans lesquelles les deux camps professaient le christianisme.

Dans le Psaume 22, qui est prophétique du Christ, les croyants en lui sont appelés « mes frères », et l’épître aux Hébreux, qui cite les paroles, dit:

« « Il n’a pas honte de les appeler frères » (Heb. 14h11-12). »

« Les Frères du Christ » est Christou Adelphoi en grec, et de ce nom est originaire Christadelphien. Devant l’adelphos se trouvent les frères ainsi que la ville ou le lieu de résidence. Comme Philadelphie, nous sommes aussi ici une résidence de « frères bien-aimés » ». Nous voulons faire briller vers l’extérieur l’amour du Christ que nous portons en nous. La lumière que nous portons avec nous doit donc témoigner de l’amour en Christ.

A community of faith to take over the torch

With awe of Jehovah, we want to form a community together under the care of Jesus Christ. To this end, we are guided by God’s delivered Word, which has defied the ages. People have tried to destroy that Word several times, but have failed. The spread of that Word has also been stopped several times, but that also did not work.

With our ecclesia we now also take over the torch that has already been carried by so many in front of us. It is a privilege to wear that torch of eternal light. We can now shine that light in our environment.

The « one body » of which Christ is the head should not be nameless. For centuries, it was called « Christian« , but shamelessly showed signs unworthy of Jesus Christ. That Christian is no longer distinctive and has been mocked for centuries by wars between nations in which both sides professed Christianity.

In Psalm 22, which is prophetic of Christ, the believers in him are spoken of as « my brethren« , and the Epistle to the Hebrews, which cites the words, says:

« He is not ashamed to call them brothers » (Heb. 2:11-12).

« The Brothers of Christ » is Christou Adelphoi in Greek, and from this name Christadelphian originated. In front of the adelphos there are the brothers as well as the city or place of residence. Like Philadelphia, we are also a hometown of « beloved brothers » here. That love of Christ that we carry within us we therefore want to shine outward. The light we carry with us should therefore bear witness to the love in Christ.

Een geloofsgemeenschap om de fakkel over te nemen

Met ontzag voor Jehovah willen wij samen een gemeenschap vormen onder de hoede van Jezus Christus. Hiertoe laten we ons leiden door God Zijn overgeleverde Woord, dat de eeuwen heeft getrotseerd. Meermaals hebben mensen geprobeerd dat Woord te vernietigen, maar zijn er niet in geslaagd. Meermaals heeft men ook de verspreiding van dat Woord tegen gehouden, maar ook dat lukte niet.

Met onze ecclesia nemen we nu ook de fakkel over, die door zovelen voor ons al gedragen is geworden. Het is een voorrecht als men die toorts van eeuwig durend licht mag dragen. Dat licht kunnen wij nu in onze omgeving laten schijnen.

Het « ene lichaam » waarvan Christus het hoofd is, mag niet naamloos zijn. Voor eeuwen werd het « christelijk » genoemd, maar vertoonde het schaamteloos tekenen die Jezus Christus onwaardig zijn. Dat christelijk is niet langer onderscheidend en is eeuwenlang bespot door oorlogen tussen naties waarin beide partijen het christendom beleden.

In Psalm 22, die profetisch is over Christus, wordt over de gelovigen in hem gesproken als « mijn broeders », en de Brief aan de Hebreeën, die de woorden aanhaalt, zegt:

« Hij schaamt zich niet hen broeders te noemen » (Hebr. 2:11-12).

Zoals Philadelphia, vormen wij hier ook een woonplaats van « geliefde broeders ». Die liefde van Christus die we in ons dragen willen we dan ook naar buiten laten uitschijnen. Het licht dat we met ons mee dragen moet dan ook getuigen van de liefde in Christus.

Our first foreign guests

It was nice to receive our first foreign guests last Saturday.

From Down-Under We had Andrea Burgess visiting. This Australian lady is here in Belgium from May 18 to June 10, for a Congress on child psychiatry.

From Great Britain, we had Brother Malcolm from Newbury visiting, who took advantage of the bank holiday in his country to visit Brother Steve from Mons.

It was a good idea of Méthode that everyone introduced themselves, so that we can form an idea of the path that everyone has travelled on a religious level.

Before the service, we went into further detail on the reasons why those who have not enjoyed full immersion as baptism at a nontrinitarian church cannot actively participate in the sacrificial meal. In the coming Services we will also talk about this further and consider how the first Christians saw their meetings and the breaking of bread.

In any case, we can be satisfied with how a sense of unity has already been created here in Anderlecht.

The hostess had once again provided a delicious meal, which everyone could enjoy while still a lot of thoughts were exchanged before everyone was satisfied to go to his own place.

Onze eerste buitenlandse gasten

Het was fijn dat wij vorige zaterdag onze eerste buitenlandse gasten mogen ontvangen.

Van Down-Under hadden wij Andrea Burgess op bezoek. Deze Australische dame is hier in België van 18 mei tot 10 juni, voor een congres over kinderpsychiatrie.

Uit Groot-Britannië hadden we broeder Malcolm uit Newbury op bezoek, welke van de bankholiday in zijn land gebruik maakte om broeder Steve uit Mons te bezoeken.

Het was een goed idee van Méthode dat iedereen zichzelf eens voorstelde, zodat we een idee kunnen vormen van het parcours dat ieder op geloofsvlak heeft afgelegd.

Voor de dienst, gingen we verder op in op de redenen waarom zij die geen volledige onderdompeling als doop bij een niet-trinitarische kerk hebben genoten, niet actief kunnen deelnemen aan de offermaaltijd. Ook in de komende diensten zullen wij daar verder over praten en nagaan hoe de eerste christenen hun bijeenkomsten en het breken van het brood zagen.

In ieder geval mogen we tevreden zijn hoe hier in Anderlecht al een gevoel van eenheid is mogen ontstaan.

De gastvrouw Kiza had weer eens voor een heerlijke maaltijd gezorgd, waarvan iedereen mocht genieten terwijl er nog veel van gedachten werd gewisseld, vooraleer ieder tevreden naar zijn eigen stekje mocht gaan.

Heugelijk nieuws op 5 Mei 2024

Op zondag 5 mei had de Christadelphiaanse gemeenschap in België een unieke boodschap te brengen, een uniek lied te zingen, een unieke daad van liefde te geven.

Met trots en vol vreugde in ons hart mochten we enkele maanden na de start van de nieuwe ecclesia in Anderlecht, al de eerste dopen mee maken. Na enkele maanden van doorgedreven studie kon er een succesvol interview afgelegd worden en was het uiteindelijk zo ver dat wij drie nieuwe broeders in onze gemeenschap mochten opnemen.

‘s Morgens vroeg stond een groot zwembad de doopkandidaten op te wachten.

Geleidelijk aan stroomde het volk binnen vanaf 10.30. Aan sfeer ontbrak het zeker niet. Leuk was ook dat velen zich in het rood-wit hadden gekleed als symbool voor het bloed van Christus en de witwassing of zuivering door doop.

Broeder Marcus Ampe mocht als ouderling de honneurs waar nemen en de dienst leiden. Dit terwijl de familie Belanwa fantastisch goed voor de uitgebreide maaltijd had gezorgd.

 

 

Joyous news on 5 May 2024

On Sunday May the 5th the Christadelphian community in Belgium had a unique message to deliver, a unique song to sing, a unique act of love to bestow.

 

With pride and joy in our hearts, a few months after the start of the new ecclesia in Anderlecht, we were able to witness the first baptisms. After a few months of intensive study, we were able to have a successful interview and were finally able to welcome three new brothers into our community.

Early in the morning, a large pool awaited the christening candidates.

Gradually the crowd poured in from 10.30. There was certainly no lack of atmosphere. It was also nice that many had dressed in red and white to symbolise the blood of Christ and the whitewashing or purification by baptism.

Brother Marcus was allowed to do the honours as an elder and lead the service. This while the Belanwa family had taken fantastic care of the elaborate meal.

Some of those present, while others were still facing them and others were outside.

 

 

Joyeuse nouvelle le 5 mai 2024

Le dimanche 5 mai, la communauté Christadelphe de Belgique avait un message unique à délivrer, un chant unique à chanter, un acte d’amour unique à accomplir.

 

C’est avec fierté et joie dans nos cœurs que, quelques mois après le début de la nouvelle ecclésia à Anderlecht, nous avons pu assister aux premiers baptêmes. Après quelques mois d’études intensives, nous avons pu avoir un entretien réussi et avons finalement pu accueillir trois nouveaux frères dans notre communauté.

Tôt le matin, une grande piscine attendait les candidats au baptême.

Peu à peu, les gens affluèrent à partir de 10h30. L’atmosphère ne manquait certainement pas. C’était aussi agréable que beaucoup s’habillaient de rouge et de blanc comme symbole du sang du Christ et du blanchiment ou de la purification par le baptême.

En tant qu’aîné, frère Marcus a été autorisé à faire les honneurs et à diriger le service. Alors que la famille Belanwa avait fantastiquement bien fourni le repas copieux.

Certaines des personnes présentes, tandis que d’autres y faisaient encore face et à l’extérieur.

 

Meeting on Saturday April 6

 

This month will be a very special month in the history of the Belgian Christadelphians.

In recent years, we in our community have seen mainly Farsi-speaking refugees offering themselves for baptism and membership in our community. But now we can consider ourselves fortunate that several people of African descent have also applied and even created the opportunity to build a new ecclesia in the western municipality of Brussels.

Since January 6, we have been able to speak of a living community in Anderlecht, where plenty of preparations have been made to baptize some Swhahili and French-speaking members.

Today, April 6, we are proud to announce that next week (God willing) we can have the baptism interview take place. Things will probably be tense for the baptismal candidates now.

We wish them the best of luck and hope that today they will seize the last chance to have their remaining questions answered.

Réunion le samedi 6 avril

 

Ce mois sera un mois très spécial dans l’histoire des Christadelphiens belges.

Ces dernières années, nous, au sein de notre communauté, avons vu principalement des réfugiés de langue farsi se proposer au baptême et à l’adhésion à notre communauté. Mais maintenant, nous pouvons nous considérer chanceux que plusieurs personnes d’ascendance africaine aient également postulé et même créé l’opportunité de construire une nouvelle ecclesia dans la municipalité occidentale de Bruxelles.

Depuis le 6 janvier, nous pouvons parler d’une communauté vivante à Anderlecht, où de nombreux préparatifs ont été faits pour baptiser certains membres swhahili et francophones.

Aujourd’hui, le 6 avril, nous sommes fiers d’annoncer que la semaine prochaine (si Dieu le veut), nous pourrons avoir lieu l’entretien de baptême. Les choses seront probablement tendues pour les candidats au baptême maintenant.

Nous leur souhaitons bonne chance et espérons qu’aujourd’hui, ils saisiront la dernière chance d’obtenir une réponse à leurs questions restantes.
