Expulsion from the paradise garden

The test commandment

The man was placed in a paradise garden (the Garden of Eden) in which he was allowed to name animals and plants. The Garden was located near the Euphrates estuary and east of the Tigris. Eden indicates « lovelessness » and it was among all living things. Jehovah, the God of order, had created order out of chaos. He revealed His Will that man should reproduce or multiply in that beautiful garden that man could manage.

God wants to be obeyed in freedom and has created man in such a way that he can make free choices. The Tree of Life symbolizes eternal life (see Revelation 2: 7; 22: 2, 14, 19; Proverbs 3:18; 11:30) The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil indicates that those who eat from it will get to know good and evil.

“8  And Jehovah God planteth a garden in Eden, at the east, and He setteth there the man whom He hath formed; 9 and Jehovah God causeth to sprout from the ground every tree desirable for appearance, and good for food, and the tree of life in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 10 And a river is going out from Eden to water the garden, and from thence it is parted, and hath become four chief [rivers]; 11 the name of the one [is] Pison, it [is] that which is surrounding the whole land of the Havilah where the gold [is], 12 and the gold of that land [is] good, there [is] the bdolach and the shoham stone; 13 and the name of the second river [is] Gibon, it [is] that which is surrounding the whole land of Cush; 14 and the name of the third river [is] Hiddekel, it [is] that which is going east of Asshur; and the fourth river is Phrat. 15 And Jehovah God taketh the man, and causeth him to rest in the garden of Eden, to serve it, and to keep it.” (Ge 2:8-15 YLT)

Adam first saw the tree. He could choose whether to eat from that tree or not. God had given him the freedom to choose. And so today we all have the freedom to choose what we want or will do and whether or not we will follow God’s commandments.

The two trees in the garden are, as it were, a challenge to the right choice. The choice for obedience included a reward: an eternal stay in the paradise garden. When choosing disobedience to God, the sad consequence was that one would have to work hard to survive and eventually die.

God had warned Adam and Eve what the consequences would be if they ate the fruits of those trees. But the forbidden fruit seemed too attractive to just hang it without eating it.

Degeneration of the covenant chief

Eve dared to doubt God’s sincerity. Man’s first lie makes her appearance when Eve in turn tries to seduce her partner. She makes him doubt.

Would God withhold anything from them?

God is also presented as a liar who tries to scare them by saying that they would die if they eat those fruits.

“1  And the serpent hath been subtile above every beast of the field which Jehovah God hath made, and he saith unto the woman, ‘Is it true that God hath said, Ye do not eat of every tree of the garden?’ 2 And the woman saith unto the serpent, ‘Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we do eat, 3 and of the fruit of the tree which [is] in the midst of the garden God hath said, Ye do not eat of it, nor touch it, lest ye die.’ 4 And the serpent saith unto the woman, ‘Dying, ye do not die, 5 for God doth know that in the day of your eating of it—your eyes have been opened, and ye have been as God, knowing good and evil.’” (Ge 3:1-5 YLT)

It was tempting to have such knowledge and to equate with God.

Adam followed his wife and ate the forbidden fruit.

As soon as they had eaten that fruit, their eyes opened and they felt shame towards each other and towards others. Their innocence was gone.

“6  And the woman seeth that the tree [is] good for food, and that it [is] pleasant to the eyes, and the tree is desirable to make [one] wise, and she taketh of its fruit and eateth, and giveth also to her husband with her, and he doth eat; 7 and the eyes of them both are opened, and they know that they [are] naked, and they sew fig-leaves, and make to themselves girdles.” (Ge 3:6-7 YLT)

Removal from the paradise garden

God is a God of word. If He has said anything, He will stick to it. When He has promised something, He will always keep His promises. This holds true for promises that hold something good, but also for warnings of something bad that God has given.

The first people needed to know better. They couldn’t hide from God. God sees everything. He even knows our inner thinking. It is impossible to hide from Him.

But the knowledge that they had done something wrong made them hide in the bushes like little children, with the thought that God would not notice them there and overlook or forget their mistake.
That guilt is an alarm that God has given man so that he would know when he would do something wrong. If you go against or sin against God, that alarm will go off.

Eating the forbidden fruit against the will of God was an act of disobedience, but by hiding they indicated that their relationship to God had now been damaged and that they suspect that God would no longer trust and punish them.

The sentence did not last. The God of word, guard against His Word. He informed the woman that in order to give birth to new life, she would have labour pains. God also indicated that equality between men and women had come to an end. God also told them that from now on they will eat with toil from the face of the earth all the days of their lives. Thorns and thistles will also emerge that will not make it easy for humans.

God also condemned man to work the earth to eat the crops of the field. Through their act of disobedience, they were now told what the saying of God meant. Until the day of their death, they now had to sweat the land to live. And eventually after so much effort to live, that life would end, with their bodies decaying to the dust of the earth. For man is made of dust, and man will become dust again.

“16  Unto the woman He said, ‘Multiplying I multiply thy sorrow and thy conception, in sorrow dost thou bear children, and toward thy husband [is] thy desire, and he doth rule over thee.’”

“17  And to the man He said, ‘Because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy wife, and dost eat of the tree concerning which I have charged thee, saying, Thou dost not eat of it, cursed [is] the ground on thine account; in sorrow thou dost eat of it all days of thy life, 18 and thorn and bramble it doth bring forth to thee, and thou hast eaten the herb of the field; 19 by the sweat of thy face thou dost eat bread till thy return unto the ground, for out of it hast thou been taken, for dust thou [art], and unto dust thou turnest back.’” (Ge 3:16-19 YLT)

The worst happened to them now that they were banished from that paradise garden, which they could never return to, and so that they could not eat from the Tree of eternal life to live forever again.

“22  And Jehovah God saith, ‘Lo, the man was as one of Us, as to the knowledge of good and evil; and now, lest he send forth his hand, and have taken also of the tree of life, and eaten, and lived to the age,’ — 23 Jehovah God sendeth him forth from the garden of Eden to serve the ground from which he hath been taken; 24 yea, he casteth out the man, and causeth to dwell at the east of the garden of Eden the cherubs and the flame of the sword which is turning itself round to guard the way of the tree of life.” (Ge 3:22-24 YLT)

Uitzetting uit de paradijselijke tuin

Het proefgebod

De mens was in een paradijselijke tuin geplaatst (de Tuin van Eden) waarin hij dieren en planten een naam mocht geven. De Tuin bevond zich in de omgeving van de monding van de Eufraat en ten oosten van de Tigris. Eden duidt op « liefdelijkheid » en dat was zo tussen alle levende wezens. Jehovah, de God van orde, had uit de chaos orde geschapen. Hij openbaarde Zijn Wil, dat de mens zich zou voortplanten of vermeerderen, in die mooie tuin die de mens mocht beheren.

God wil in vrijheid gehoorzaamd worden en heeft de mens zo geschapen dat deze vrij keuzes kan maken. De Boom van leven staat symbool van eeuwig leven (zie Openbaring 2:7; 22:2, 14, 19; Spreuken 3:18; 11:30) De Boom van kennis van goed en kwaad geeft aan dat zij die er van eten goed en kwaad zullen leren kennen.

“8  Ook plantte de HEERE God een hof in Eden, in het oosten, en Hij plaatste daar de mens, die Hij gevormd had. 9 En de HEERE God liet allerlei bomen uit de aardbodem opkomen, begerenswaardig om te zien en goed om van te eten; ook de boom des levens, in het midden van de hof, en de boom van de kennis van goed en kwaad.
10 Een rivier kwam voort uit Eden om de hof te bevochtigen. En vandaar splitste hij zich en vormde vier hoofdstromen. 11 De naam van de eerste rivier is Pison; die is het die rond heel het land van Havila stroomt, waar het goud is. 12 En het goud van dit land is goed; ook is er balsemhars en de edelsteen onyx. 13 En de naam van de tweede rivier is Gihon; die is het die rond heel het land Cusj stroomt. 14 En de naam van de derde rivier is Tigris; die loopt ten oosten van Assur. En de vierde rivier is de Eufraat.
15 De HEERE God nam de mens, en zette hem in de hof van Eden om die te bewerken en te onderhouden.” (Ge 2:8-15 HSV)

Adam kon de boom voor het eerst zien. Hij kon zelf kiezen of hij van die boom ging eten of niet. God had hem de vrijheid gegeven om te kiezen. En zo hebben wij vandaag nog allemaal zelf de vrijheid om te kiezen wat we willen of zullen doen en of we al dan niet Gods geboden gaan opvolgen.

De twee bomen in de tuin zijn als het ware een uitdaging tot de juiste keuze. Bij de keuze voor gehoorzaamheid hoorde een beloning: een eeuwig verblijf in de paradijselijke tuin. Bij de keuze voor ongehoorzaamheid aan God hoorde het droevige gevolg dat men hard zou moeten gaan werken om te overleven en dat men uiteindelijk toch dood zou gaan.

God had Adam en Eva gewaarschuwd wat de gevolgen zouden zijn als zij van de vruchten van die bomen zouden eten. Maar de verboden vrucht leek te aantrekkelijk om zo maar te laten hangen zonder er van te eten.

Ontaarding van het verbondshoofd

Een subtiele verleiding kwam in de vrouw op, in de vorm van een sugestie die een beschuldiging inhoudt.

Eva durfde namelijk te twijfelen aan Gods oprechtheid. De eerste leugen van de mens doet har intrede als Eva op haar beurt haar partner tracht te verleiden. Zij brengt hem aan het twijfelen.

Zou God hen iets achter houden?

God wordt ook als een leugenaar voorgesteld, die hen tracht bang te maken door te zeggen dat ze zouden dood gaan als zij van die vruchten eten.

“1  De slang nu was de listigste onder alle dieren van het veld, die de HEERE God gemaakt had; en hij zei tegen de vrouw: Is het echt zo dat God gezegd heeft: U mag niet eten van alle bomen in de hof?
2 En de vrouw zei tegen de slang: Van de vrucht van de bomen in de hof mogen wij eten, 3 maar van de vrucht van de boom die in het midden van de hof staat, heeft God gezegd: U mag daarvan niet eten en hem niet aanraken, anders sterft u.
4 Toen zei de slang tegen de vrouw: U zult zeker niet sterven. 5 Maar God weet dat, op de dag dat u daarvan eet, uw ogen geopend zullen worden en dat u als God zult zijn, goed en kwaad kennend.” (Ge 3:1-5 HSV)

Het was aanlokkelijk om zulke kennis te hebben en gelijk te komen staan met God.

Adam volgde zijn vrouw en at mee van de verboden vrucht.

Zodra ze van die vrucht hadden gegeten gingen hun ogen open en voelden ze schaamte tegenover elkaar en naar anderen toe. Hun onschuld was verdwenen.

“6  En de vrouw zag dat die boom goed was om ervan te eten en dat hij een lust was voor het oog, ja, een boom die begerenswaardig was om er verstandig door te worden; en zij nam van zijn vrucht en at; en zij gaf ook wat aan haar man, die bij haar was, en hij at ervan. 7 Toen werden de ogen van beiden geopend en zij merkten dat zij naakt waren. Zij vlochten vijgenbladeren samen en maakten voor zichzelf schorten.” (Ge 3:6-7 HSV)

Verwijdering uit de paradijselijke tuin

God is een God van woord. Als Hij iets gezegd heeft, houdt Hij zich daar dan ook aan. Als Hij iets beloofd heeft, zal Hij altijd zijn beloften nakomen. Dit gaat op voor beloften die iets goed inhouden, maar eveneens voor waarschuwingen voor iets slecht dat God heeft gegeven.

De eerste mensen moesten beter weten. Ze konden zich niet verstoppen voor God. God ziet namelijk alles. Hij kent zelfs ons innerlijk denken. Het is onmogelijk om ons voor Hem te verstoppen.

Maar de kennis dat ze iets verkeerds gedaan hadden deed hen als kleine kinderen zich verstoppen in de struiken, met de gedachte dat God hen daar wel niet zou opmerken en hun fout wel over het hoofd zien of vergeten.
Dat schuldgevoel is een alarmsignaal dat God de mens gegeven heeft, zodat deze zou weten wanneer hij iets fout zou doen. Als je tegen God ingaat, of zondigt, gaat dat alarmsignaal af.

Het eten van de verboden vrucht tegen de wil van God was een daad van ongehoorzaamheid, maar door zich te verstoppen gaven ze te kennen dat hun verhouding tegenover God nu schade had geleden en dat ze vermoeden dat God hen niet meer zou vertrouwen en zou gaan straffen.

De straf bleef niet uit. De God van woord, hoed zich aan Zijn Woord. Hij gaf de vrouw te kennen dat ze om nieuw leven te baren, barensweeën zou krijgen. Ook gaf God te kennen dat de gelijkheid onder man en vrouw ten einde was gekomen. God gaf hen ook te kennen dat ze voortaan met zwoegen van de aardbodem zullen eten, al de dagen van hun leven. Ook zullen  dorens en distels opkomen die het de mens niet makkelijk zullen maken.

God veroordeelde de mens ook tot het bewerken van de aarde om de gewassen van het veld te kunnen eten. Door hun daad van ongehoorzaamheid kregen ze nu te horen wat het gezegde van God inhield. Tot de dag van hun dood moesten ze nu zwetend het land bewerken om te kunnen leven. en uiteindelijk na zo veel moeite gedaan te hebben om te leven zou er toch een einde komen aan dat leven, waarbij hun lichaam zou vergaan tot het stof van de aarde. Want uit stof is de mens gemaakt en tot stof zal de mens weer worden.

“16  Tegen de vrouw zei Hij: Ik zal uw moeite in uw zwangerschap zeer groot maken; met pijn zult u kinderen baren. Naar uw man zal uw begeerte uitgaan, maar hij zal over u heersen.”

“17  En tegen Adam zei Hij: Omdat u geluisterd hebt naar de stem van uw vrouw en van die boom gegeten hebt waarvan Ik u gebood: U mag daarvan niet eten, is de aardbodem omwille van u vervloekt; met zwoegen zult u daarvan eten, al de dagen van uw leven; 18 dorens en distels zal hij voor u laten opkomen en u zult het gewas van het veld eten. 19 In het zweet van uw gezicht zult u brood eten, totdat u tot de aardbodem terugkeert, omdat u daaruit genomen bent; want stof bent u en u zult tot stof terugkeren.” (Ge 3:16-19 HSV)

Het ergste overkwam hen nu ze verbannen werden uit die paradijselijke tuin, waar zij nooit meer zouden kunnen naar terugkeren, en zodat ze niet van de Boom van eeuwig leven zouden kunnen gaan eten om terug eeuwig te leven.

“22  Toen zei de HEERE God: Zie, de mens is geworden als één van Ons, omdat hij goed en kwaad kent. Nu dan, laat hij zijn hand niet uitsteken en ook van de boom des levens nemen en eten, zodat hij eeuwig zou leven! 23 Daarom zond de HEERE God hem weg uit de hof van Eden, om de aardbodem te bewerken, waaruit hij genomen was.
24 Hij verdreef de mens, en plaatste ten oosten van de hof van Eden de cherubs met een vlammend zwaard, dat heen en weer bewoog, om de weg naar de boom des levens te bewaken.” (Ge 3:22-24 HSV)

Een heerlijke tuin voor de mens

 

Toen God orde in de chaos bracht en licht in de duisternis, schiep Hij levende elementen.

“11 God zei: ‘Overal op aarde moet jong groen ontkiemen: zaadvormende planten en allerlei bomen die vruchten dragen met zaad erin.’ En zo gebeurde het. 12 De aarde bracht jong groen voort: allerlei zaadvormende planten en allerlei bomen die vruchten droegen met zaad erin. En God zag dat het goed was.” (Ge 1:11-12 NBV)

Volgens plan schiep Hij daarna wemelende dieren.

“20  God zei: ‘Het water moet wemelen van levende wezens, en boven de aarde, langs het hemelgewelf, moeten vogels vliegen.’ 21 En hij schiep de grote zeemonsters en alle soorten levende wezens waarvan het water wemelt en krioelt, en ook alles wat vleugels heeft. En God zag dat het goed was. 22 God zegende ze met de woorden: ‘Wees vruchtbaar en word talrijk en vul het water van de zee. En ook de vogels moeten talrijk worden, overal op aarde.’” (Ge 1:20-22 NBV)

“God zei: ‘De aarde moet allerlei levende wezens voortbrengen: vee, kruipende dieren en wilde dieren.’ En zo gebeurde het.” (Ge 1:24 NBV)

De dieren konden vrij doorheen de waters zwemmen, of tussen het gras en de bomen wandelen. Maar er ontbrak nog een wezen waarmee God een meer intiemere band wou hebben. Er was het wild gedierte, maar ook ‘huisdieren’ welke een eigenaar mochten hebben. Hiertoe maakte Jehovah God naar Zijn evenbeeld de mens.

“God zei: ‘Laten wij mensen maken die ons evenbeeld zijn, die op ons lijken; zij moeten heerschappij voeren over de vissen van de zee en de vogels van de hemel, over het vee, over de hele aarde en over alles wat daarop rondkruipt.’” (Ge 1:26 NBV)

Die mens, genomen uit de rode aarde, waarin God Zijn levensadem blies mocht de aarde in ontvangst nemen en haar onderwerpen.

“7 Toen maakte Jehovah, God de Heer, de mens. Hij vormde hem uit stof, uit aarde, en blies hem levensadem in de neus. Zo werd de mens een levend wezen.”

“8 Jehovah legde in het oosten, in Eden, een tuin aan en daarin plaatste hij de mens die hij had gemaakt. 9 Hij liet uit de aarde allerlei bomen opschieten die er aanlokkelijk uitzagen, met heerlijke vruchten. In het midden van de tuin stonden de levensboom en de boom van de kennis van goed en kwaad.” (Ge 2:7-9 NBV)

“28 Hij zegende hen en zei tegen hen: ‘Wees vruchtbaar en word talrijk, bevolk de aarde en breng haar onder je gezag: heers over de vissen van de zee, over de vogels van de hemel en over alle dieren die op de aarde rondkruipen.’”

“29  Ook zei God: ‘Hierbij geef ik jullie alle zaaddragende planten en alle vruchtbomen op de aarde; dat zal jullie voedsel zijn. 30 Aan de dieren die in het wild leven, aan de vogels van de hemel en aan de levende wezens die op de aarde rondkruipen, geef ik de groene planten tot voedsel.’ En zo gebeurde het.” (Ge 1:28-30 NBV)

Waar eerst chaos was had God nu netheid en orde gebracht in een overheerlijke omgeving waar de mens zich mocht thuis voelen. Alles wat hij nodig had was daar ter beschikking voor hem.

God had zich voorgenomen dat gehoorzame mensen een leven zouden hebben waarin ze een zalig leven zouden kunnen lijden, niet onderworpen zijnde aan moeilijkheden, lijden, veroudering of dood. Een volmaakt leven in een paradijs!

Toen de eerste mens tot leven kwam, was hij volgroeid, volmaakt gevormd, volmaakt gezond, en bezat hij een volmaakt moraliteitsbesef. De naam die hem herhaaldelijk in het Bijbelse verslag gegeven wordt, herinnert ons aan de materie waaruit hij werd gevormd. Zijn naam was ʼA·dhamʹ. ^{[in de oorspronkelijke taal van het scheppingsverslag in de Heilige Schrift: Adhama of gevormd uit rode aarde, of grond, waaruit hij was gevormd, en daarom ʼa·dha·mahʹ genoemd.]}Zijn naam zou dus terecht „aardse mens” kunnen betekenen. Dit werd de persoonlijke naam van deze eerste mens — Adam.

De eerste mens bevond zich in een prachtige parkachtige tuin waar alles heerlijk kon bloeien, daar God voorzien had dat er voldoende bewatering en licht was. Het was een paradijs waar de mens niets had voor moeten doen. De Goddelijke Maker  had alles zo ontworpen dat de mens zelf niet moest aanleggen of toebereiden.

Hij wist dat hij niet zichzelf gemaakt had, niet zichzelf ontwikkeld had. Hij had zich niet door eigen inspanningen tot deze staat omhooggewerkt. Hiervoor zou hij moeten erkennen dat Jehovah zijn Maker was en dat heel de aarde Hem moest dienen met vreugde.

“1  Een psalm voor het dankoffer. Juich Jehovah, de Heer toe, heel de aarde, 2 dien Jehovah, de Heer met vreugde, kom tot hem met jubelzang. 3 Erken het: Jehovah, de Heer is God, hij heeft ons gemaakt, hem behoren wij toe, zijn volk zijn wij, de kudde die hij weidt. 4 Kom zijn poorten binnen met een loflied, hef in zijn voorhoven een lofzang aan, breng hem hulde, prijs zijn naam: 5 Jehovah, de Heer is goed, zijn liefde duurt eeuwig, zijn trouw van geslacht op geslacht.” (Ps 100:1-5 NBV)

“Ik loof u voor het ontzaglijke wonder van mijn bestaan, wonderbaarlijk is wat u gemaakt hebt. Ik weet het, tot in het diepst van mijn ziel.” (Ps 139:14 NBV)

Pensée pour aujourd’hui: Un jardin merveilleux pour les gens

Quand Dieu a donné l’ordre au chaos et la lumière aux ténèbres, Il a créé des éléments vivants.

“11 Dieu vit que cela était bon. Et Dieu dit, Que la terre produise l’herbe, la plante portant de la semence, l’arbre fruitier produisant du fruit selon son espèce, ayant sa semence en soi sur la terre. Et il fut ainsi. 12 Et la terre produisit l’herbe, la plante portant de la semence selon son espèce, et l’arbre produisant du fruit ayant sa semence en soi selon son espèce. Et Dieu vit que cela était bon.” (Ge 1:11-12 DRB)

Selon le plan, Il a ensuite créé des animaux grouillants.

“20  Et Dieu dit, Que les eaux foisonnent d’un fourmillement d’êtres vivants, et que les oiseaux volent au-dessus de la terre devant l’étendue des cieux. 21 Dieu créa les grands animaux des eaux, et tout être vivant qui se meut, dont les eaux fourmillent, selon leurs espèces, et tout oiseau ailé selon son espèce. Et Dieu vit que cela était bon. 22 Et Dieu les bénit, disant, Fructifiez, et multipliez, et remplissez les eaux dans les mers, et que l’oiseau multiplie sur la terre.” (Ge 1:20-22 DRB)

“Et Dieu dit, Que la terre produise des êtres vivants selon leur espèce, le bétail, et tout ce qui rampe, et les bêtes de la terre selon leur espèce. Et il fut ainsi.” (Ge 1:24 DRB)

Les animaux ont pu nager librement dans les eaux, ou marcher entre l’herbe et les arbres. Mais il y avait encore une créature avec laquelle Dieu voulait un lien plus intime. Il y avait les animaux sauvages, mais aussi les ‘animaux domestiques’ qu’un propriétaire était autorisé à avoir. A cette fin, Jéhovah a fait de Dieu un homme à Son image.

“Et Dieu dit, Faisons l’homme à notre image, selon notre ressemblance, et qu’ils dominent sur les poissons de la mer, et sur les oiseaux des cieux, et sur le bétail, et sur toute la terre, et sur tout animal rampant qui rampe sur la terre.” (Ge 1:26 DRB)

Cet homme, pris de la terre rouge, dans laquelle Dieu a respiré Son souffle de vie, a été autorisé à recevoir la terre et à la soumettre.

“7 Et l’Eternel Dieu forma l’homme, poussière du sol, et souffla dans ses narines une respiration de vie, et l’homme devint une âme vivante.”

“8  Et l’Eternel Dieu planta un jardin en Éden, du côté de l’orient, et il y plaça l’homme qu’il avait formé. 9 Et l’Eternel Dieu fit croître du sol tout arbre agréable à voir et bon à manger, et l’arbre de vie au milieu du jardin, et l’arbre de la connaissance du bien et du mal.” (Ge 2:7-9 DRB)

Là où il y avait le chaos au début, Dieu avait maintenant apporté la propreté et l’ordre dans un environnement délicieux où l’homme pouvait se sentir chez lui. Tout ce dont il avait besoin était disponible pour lui.

Dieu voulait que les gens obéissants aient une vie dans laquelle ils pourraient vivre une vie heureuse, sans être soumis à des difficultés, à la souffrance, au vieillissement ou à la mort. Une vie parfaite au paradis!

Quand le premier homme est venu à la vie, il était pleinement adulte, parfaitement formé, parfaitement en bonne santé, et avait un sens parfait de la moralité. Le nom qui lui a été donné à plusieurs reprises dans le récit biblique nous rappelle la matière à partir de laquelle il a été formé. Son nom était 23Dham [dans la langue originale du rapport de création dans les Saintes Écritures: Adhama ou formé de terre rouge, ou de sol à partir duquel il a été formé, et donc appelé ??dham [dans la langue originale du rapport de création dans les Saintes Écritures: Adhama ou formé de terre rouge, ou de sol à partir duquel il a été formé??.]Son nom pourrait donc signifier à juste titre „ earthy man ”. Ceci est devenu le nom personnel de ce premier homme — Adam.

Le premier homme était dans un beau jardin de type parc où tout pouvait fleurir à merveille, comme Dieu avait prévu qu’il y avait suffisamment d’arrosage et de lumière. C’était un paradis pour lequel l’homme n’aurait rien dû faire. Le Créateur Divin avait tout conçu de telle manière que l’homme lui-même ne devrait pas créer ou préparer.

Il savait qu’il ne s’était pas fait, qu’il ne s’était pas développé. Il n’avait pas fait son chemin jusqu’à cet état par ses propres efforts. Pour cela, il devait reconnaître que Jéhovah était son Créateur et que toute la terre devait Le servir avec joie.

“1  Poussez des cris de joie vers l’Eternel, toute la terre ! 2 Servez l’Eternel avec joie, venez devant lui avec des chants de triomphe. 3 Sachez que l’Eternel est Dieu. C’est lui qui nous a faits, et ce n’est pas nous ; nous sommes son peuple, et le troupeau de sa pâture. 4 Entrez dans ses portes avec des actions de grâces, dans ses parvis avec des louanges. Célébrez-le, bénissez son nom ! 5 Car l’Eternel est bon ; sa bonté demeure à toujours, et sa fidélité de génération en génération.” (Ps 100:1-5 DRB)

Thought for today: A wonderful garden for mankind

When God brought order to chaos and light to darkness, He created living elements.

“11 And God said, Let the earth cause grass to spring up, herb producing seed, fruit-trees yielding fruit after their kind, the seed of which is in them, on the earth. And it was so. 12 And the earth brought forth grass, herb producing seed after its kind, and trees yielding fruit, the seed of which is in them, after their kind. And God saw that it was good.” (Ge 1:11-12 Darby)

According to plan, He then created teeming animals.

“20  And God said, Let the waters swarm with swarms of living souls, and let fowl fly above the earth in the expanse of the heavens. 21 And God created the great sea monsters, and every living soul that moves with which the waters swarm, after their kind, and every winged fowl after its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply on the earth.” (Ge 1:20-22 Darby)

“And God said, Let the earth bring forth living souls after their kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth, after their kind. And it was so.” (Ge 1:24 Darby)

The animals could swim freely through the waters, or walk between the grass and the trees. But there was still a creature with which God wanted a more intimate bond. There were the wild animals, but also ‘domestic animals’ that an owner was allowed to have. For this purpose, Jehovah made God man in His image.

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over the whole earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth on the earth.” (Ge 1:26 Darby)

That man, taken from the red earth, in which God breathed His breath of life, was allowed to receive the earth and subdue it.

“7 And Jehovah Elohim formed Man, dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and Man became a living soul.”

“8  And Jehovah Elohim planted a garden in Eden eastward, and there put Man whom he had formed. 9 And out of the ground Jehovah Elohim made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; and the tree of life, in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” (Ge 2:7-9 Darby)

Where there was chaos at first, God had now brought cleanliness and order to a delicious environment where man could feel at home. Everything he needed was available there for him.

God intended that obedient people should have a life in which they could live a blissful life, not subject to difficulties, suffering, ageing, or death. A perfect life in paradise!

When the first man came to life, he was fully grown, perfectly formed, perfectly healthy, and had a perfect sense of morality. The name given to him repeatedly in the biblical account reminds us of the matter from which he was formed. His name was ʼA · dham a [in the original language of the creation report in the Holy Scriptures: Adhama or formed from red earth, or soil from which it was formed, and therefore called ʼa · dha · mah a .]His name could therefore rightly mean „ earthy man ”. This became the personal name of this first man — Adam.

The first man was in a beautiful park-like garden where everything could bloom wonderfully, as God had foreseen that there was sufficient watering and light. It was a paradise for which man should have done nothing. The Divine Maker had designed everything in such a way that man himself should not create or prepare.

He knew that he had not made himself, had not developed himself. He had not worked his way up to this state through his own efforts. For this, he would have to recognise that Jehovah was his Maker and that all the earth should serve Him with joy.

“1  «A Psalm of thanksgiving.» Shout aloud unto Jehovah, all the earth! 2 Serve Jehovah with joy: come before his presence with exultation. 3 Know that Jehovah is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; [we are] his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving [and] into his courts with praise; give thanks unto him, bless his name: 5 For Jehovah is good; his loving-kindness [endureth] for ever; and his faithfulness from generation to generation.” (Ps 100:1-5 Darby)

La première mission pour l’homme

Dans notre premier cours biblique pour les jeunes, nous avons donné une lecture pour enfants du premier chapitre du livre de la Genèse.

Nous avons vu là comment Jéhovah Dieu est le Créateur de toutes choses.  Nous avons également entendu comment, après avoir créé l’homme, il a donné un premier ordre (mission – charge -mandat règlement): prendre soin de ce que le Seigneur a créé.

Puis Dieu dit: «Faisons l’homme à notre image, à notre ressemblance! Qu’il domine sur les poissons de la mer, sur les oiseaux du ciel, sur le bétail, sur toute la terre et sur tous les reptiles qui rampent sur la terre.»

Dieu les bénit et leur dit: «Reproduisez-vous, devenez nombreux, remplissez la terre et soumettez-la! Dominez sur les poissons de la mer, sur les oiseaux du ciel et sur tout animal qui se déplace sur la terre!»

Nous avons vu comment Dieu avait créé l’ordre à partir du chaos et comment Il a placé l’homme sur cette planète. Maintenant, nous entendons ici qu’Il demande à l’homme de se multiplier et de peupler la terre, pendant que cet homme est aussi là pour ce monde, plein de planètes, lunes, étoiles, animaux et plantes, doit faire attention.

“4 (8:5) [Je dis :] Qu’est-ce que l’homme mortel, que tu te souviennes de lui ? Et le fils de l’homme, que tu prennes garde à lui ? 5 (8:6) Et il s’en faut peu que tu n’aies fait de lui un dieu ! Tu l’as couronné d’honneur et de magnificence, 6 (8:7) Tu l’as établi dominateur sur les œuvres de tes mains, Tu as mis toutes choses sous ses pieds, 7 (8:8) Brebis et bœufs, tous ensemble, Ainsi que bêtes des champs, 8 (8:9) Oiseaux des cieux et poissons de la mer, Tout ce qui parcourt les sentiers des mers. 9 (8:10) Eternel, notre Seigneur ! Que ton nom est magnifique sur toute la terre !” (Ps 8:4-9 BBA)

Dans toutes ces choses autour de nous, nous voyons la gloire du Créateur Divin. L’histoire de la Genèse est claire et manifeste, mais elle ne prétend jamais fournir une explication scientifique détaillée de l’existence des planètes, des plantes, des animaux et des humains.

D’après le texte, nous devons comprendre que Dieu n’a pas créé tout cela comme cela, mais qu’Il l’a fait avec un plan dans Sa tête. Quand Dieu a placé Adam (l’homme de la terre rouge) dans le jardin d’Eden, c’était pour s’en occuper et y construire une bonne vie. Dieu a même donné à l’homme un rôle important dans son travail créateur. L’homme a été autorisé à nommer et à gérer les plantes et les animaux.

La direction est censée en prendre bien soin. Une telle préoccupation pour quelque chose ou quelqu’un nécessite du travail. Cela signifie que Dieu s’attend à ce que l’homme ne s’assoie pas sur ses fesses paresseuses, mais retrousse ses manches.

Et c’est la première tâche importante pour les humains en plus de la multiplication. C’était alors une mission au début et c’est encore une commission importante, ou un commandement donné par Dieu. Ceux qui aiment Dieu devraient alors s’y tenir.

De eerste opdracht voor de mens

In onze eerste bijbelklas voor jongeren brachten wij een lezing op kinderniveau van het eerste hoofdstuk uit het boek Genesis.

We zagen daar hoe Jehovah God de Maker van alle dingen is.  Eveneens hoorden we hoe nadat Hij de mens had geschapen deze een eerste opdracht gaf: namelijk zorg te dragen voor wat de Heer geschapen heeft.

Genesis 1:26-28

Toen zei Jehovah God: ‘Laat Ons mensen maken die op Ons lijken en kunnen heersen over alle dieren op aarde, in de zeeën en in de lucht.’

God schiep daarop de mens als zijn evenbeeld. Als man en vrouw schiep Hij hen.

God zegende hen en zei:

« Vermenigvuldig je, bevolk de aarde en onderwerp haar. Heers over de vissen, de vogels en alle andere dieren.”

We zagen hoe God uit chaos orde had geschapen en hoe Hij op deze planeet de mens plaatste. Nu horen we hier dat Hij de mens vraagt om zich te vermeerderen en de aarde te bevolken, terwijl deze mens er ook voor die wereld, vol planeten, manen, sterren, dieren en planten, moet zorgen.

“4 (8-5) Wat is dan een mens, dat Gij hem zoudt gedenken, Een mensenkind, dat Gij acht op hem slaat? 5 (8-6) Toch hebt Gij hem haast tot een godheid gemaakt, Hem met glorie en luister gekroond. 6 (8-7) Gij hebt hem gesteld over het werk uwer handen, En alles aan zijn voeten gelegd: 7 (8-8) Al de schapen en runderen, En de beesten in het wild; 8 (8-9) De vogels in de lucht en de vissen in zee, Al wat de paden der zeeën bewandelt. 9 (8-10) Jehovah, onze Heer, Hoe heerlijk is uw Naam over heel de aarde!” (Ps 8:4-9)

In al die dingen rondom ons zien we de glorie van de Goddelijke Maker. Het Genesis verhaal is klaar en duidelijk, maar heeft nooit de pretentie om een uitvoerige wetenschappelijke verklaring van het bestaan van de planeten, planten, dieren en mens naar voor te brengen.

Uit de tekst horen we te verstaan dat God dit alles niet zomaar schiep, maar wel deed met een plan in Zijn hoofd. Toen God Adam (de man uit rode aarde) in de Tuin van Eden plaatste was dit om er voor te zorgen en daar een goed leven op te bouwen. God gaf de mens zelfs een belangrijke rol in Zijn scheppingswerk. De mens mocht namelijk de planten en dieren een naam geven en ze beheren.

Met beheren wordt verondersteld: er goed voor zorgen. Zulk een zorgen voor iets of iemand vergt werk. Dat betekent dat God van de mens verwacht dat deze niet op zijn lui achterwerk zou gaan zitten teren, maar dat deze de handen uit de mouwen zal gaan steken.

En dat is naast het vermenigvuldigen de eerste belangrijke opdracht voor de mens. Het was toen in het begin een opdracht en het is nog steeds een belangrijke opdracht, of gebod door God gegeven. Zij die God liefhebben horen zich dan daaraan te houden.

The first assignment for man

In our first Bible class for young people, we gave a children’s reading of the first chapter of the book of Genesis.

We saw there how Jehovah God is the Maker of all things.  We also heard how after He created man he gave a first command: to take care of what the Lord has created.

Genesis 1:26-28

“26  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 And God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them: and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Ge 1:26-28 ASV)

We saw how God had created order out of chaos and how He placed man on this planet. Now we hear here that He asks man to multiply and populate the earth while this man is also there for that world, full of planets, moons, stars, animals and plants, must take care.

“4 What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? 5 For thou hast made him but little lower than God, And crownest him with glory and honor. 6 Thou makest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet: 7 All sheep and oxen, Yea, and the beasts of the field, 8 The birds of the heavens, and the fish of the sea, Whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas. 9 O Jehovah, our Lord, How excellent is thy name in all the earth!” (Ps 8:4-9 ASV)

In all those things around us we see the glory of the Divine Maker. The Genesis story is clear and clear, but it never pretends to provide a detailed scientific explanation of the existence of the planets, plants, animals and humans.

From the text we should understand that God did not create all this just like that, but did with a plan in His head. When God placed Adam (the man from red earth) in the Garden of Eden, this was to take care of it and build a good life there. God even gave man an important role in His creative work. Man was allowed to name and manage the plants and animals.

Management is supposed to take good care of it. Such a concern for something or someone requires work. This means that God expects man not to sit on his lazy butt, but to roll up his sleeves.

And that is the first important task for humans in addition to multiplication. It was then an assignment at the beginning, and it is still an important commission, or commandment given by God. Those who love God should then keep to it.

Darkness, formlessness, chaos and order

“ But the earth now turned out to be disordered, formless and empty, there was desolation and darkness reigned, and God’s Spirit (His Working Power) floated over the surfaces of the waters. ” (Ge 1:2)

“ I looked at the earth and as far as my eye could see I saw nothing but emptiness and chaos. The sky was also dark. ” (Jer 4:23)

Then the Almighty Deity spoke, and every time He spoke things came into existence. Thus, light came into the darkness, and a firmament called heaven was created, separating water (seas) and land (earth). On that earth, the Divine Maker foresaw plant growth and in the waters sea monsters, teeming creatures each according to their kind, while flying creatures winged in the air were created.

Jehovah God requested to multiply these beings so that they could become many, on earth and in the air.

On that earth, out of the dust of the red earth, God made man.

And Jehovah God was about to form man out of the dust of the face of the earth and blow the breath of life in his nostrils, and man became a living soul. (Genesis 2:7)

Jehovah God now took man and placed him in the Garden of Eden to cultivate and care for it. (Genesis 2:15)

Thus, we see that God gave not only the animals an order but also man.

“ Then God blessed them, and said to them, Be fruitful and multiply; populate the earth and subdue it; rule over the fish of the sea, the birds in the air and over all living things moving on the earth. ” (Ge 1:28)

“ Now Jehovah God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and placed in it the man whom he had made. ” (Ge 2:8)

“ Heaven remains the heaven of Jehovah, But He gave the earth to the children of men. ” (Ps 115:16)

“ 19 Then Jehovah God formed from the clay all the animals on the land and all the birds in the air, and carried them to man to see what he would call them; for as man would call every living being, that is what it would be called. 20 Man then gave names to all tame animals and to the birds in the air and to all animals in the wild, …. ” (Ge 2: 19-20)

Thus, God created order in the disorder and removed the chaos by giving everything a place and asking man to name all things as he wished.

Ténèbres, absence de forme, chaos et ordre

“ Mais la terre s’est maintenant avérée désordonnée, sans forme et vide, il y avait la désolation et les ténèbres régnaient, et l’Esprit de Dieu (Sa Puissance Ouvrière) flottait sur les surfaces des eaux. ” (Ge 1:2)

“ Je regardais la terre et aussi loin que mon œil pouvait voir, je ne voyais que le vide et le chaos. Le ciel était également sombre. ” (Jr 4:23)

Alors la Divinité Tout-Puissant parla, et chaque fois qu’Il parlait, les choses venaient à l’existence. Ainsi la lumière est entrée dans les ténèbres, un firmament appelé ciel a été créé, séparant l’eau (mer) et la terre (le sol – croûte terrestre). Sur cette terre, le Créateur Divin prévoyait la croissance des plantes et dans les eaux, des monstres marins, des créatures grouillantes chacune selon leur espèce, tandis que des créatures volantes ailées dans les airs étaient créées.

Jéhovah Dieu a demandé de multiplier (ou reproduire) ces êtres afin qu’ils puissent devenir nombreux sur terre et dans les airs.

Sur cette terre, de la poussière de la terre rouge, Dieu a fait l’homme.

Et Jéhovah Dieu était sur le point de former l’homme de la poussière de la surface de la terre et de souffler le souffle de vie dans ses narines, et l’homme est devenu une âme vivante. (Genèse 2:7)

Jéhovah Dieu a maintenant pris l’homme et l’a placé dans le jardin d’Eden pour le cultiver et en prendre soin. (Genèse 2:15)

Ainsi nous voyons que Dieu a donné non seulement un ordre aux animaux, mais aussi à l’homme.

“ Alors Dieu les bénit, et leur dit: soyez féconds et multipliez; peuplez la terre et soumettez-la; régnez sur les poissons de la mer, les oiseaux dans l’air et sur tous les êtres vivants se déplaçant sur la terre. ” (Ge 1:28)

“ Maintenant, Jéhovah Dieu a planté un jardin en Eden à l’est, et y a placé l’homme qu’il avait fait. ” (Ge 2:8)

“ Le ciel reste le ciel de Jéhovah, mais Il a donné la terre aux enfants des hommes (Ps 115:16)

“ 19 Alors Jehovah, l’Éternel Dieu, forma de l’argile tous les animaux du pays et tous les oiseaux dans les airs, et les porta à l’homme pour voir comment il les appellerait; et; car, comme l’homme appellerait chaque être vivant, c’est ce qu’il serait appelé. 20 L’homme donna alors des noms à tous les animaux apprivoisés et aux oiseaux dans l’air et à tous les animaux dans la nature, … ” (Ge 2:19-20)

Ainsi, Dieu a créé l’ordre dans le désordre et a enlevé le chaos en donnant à tout une place et en demandant à l’homme de nommer toutes choses comme il le souhaitait.
